Philippine peso (PHP)

The peso is the official currency of the Philippines. The sign for the peso is (₱), and the official abbreviation is (PHP). A single Philippine peso is divided into 100 centavos, also called sentimo (Filipino). The word peso is spelled piso in Filipino. The peso is normally represented by the symbol (₱). The peso is a floating currency, which means it is a physical representation of the domestic debt, and it's value is reflected by stability of the current regime and its ability to repay the debt.

Coins

The Philippine coins are minted at the Security Plant Complex also called the National Printing Office, and distributed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. Philippino coins circulate in the denominations of 5 sentimo, 10 sentimo, 25 sentimo, 1 piso, 5 piso, and 10 piso. The coins are sized according to the following specifications:

1 sentimo: 15.5 millimetres
5 sentimo: 15.5 millimetres
10 sentimo: 17.0 millimetres
25 sentimo: 20 millimetres
1 piso: 24 millimetres
5 piso: 27 millimetres
10 piso: 26.5 millimetres

Banknotes

Banknotes are distributed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipina in the denominations of 5 piso, 10 piso, 20 piso, 50 piso, 100 piso, 200 piso, 500 piso, and 100 piso. The banknotes are colour-coded and sized in the following manner:

5 piso: Green (no longer issued, but still accepted as legal tender)
10 piso: Brown (no longer issued but still accepted as legal tender)
20 piso: Orange
50 piso: Red
100 piso: Purple
200 piso: Green
500 piso: Yellow
1000 piso: Blue
