Croatian kuna (HRK)

The kuna, issued by the Croatian National Bank, is the official currency of Croatia. The kuna currency has the currency code HRK. The kuna is sub-divided into 100 lipa. The word lipa literally means lime tree, and the word Kuna means marten, which is in reference to the marten pellets that were once used in trading in the region. The main reference currency for the Croation Kuna (previously the German mark) is now the Euro.

Coins

Croatian coins are minted by the Croatian Monetary Institute and issued in denominations of: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 lipa. There are also kuna coins in the denominations of: 1 kuna, 2 kuna, and 5 kuna. The names of Croatian coins are derived from the culture of the small nation. Each coin has a special translation, with an equally special meaning behind it. Below are the Croatian and English translations of each coin respectively.
