Czech Koruna (CZK)

The Czech koruna (CZK, Kč) is the official currency of the Czech Republic. The official name of the Koruna currency in Czech is “česká”. The plural form of česká is “českých”, and is used universally one banknotes. The official abbreviation of the Czech Koruna is (CZK), however the local acronym used in the Czech Republic is (Kč). Regardless of which abbreviation is used, it is always placed after the digits representing the monetary value. For example: 730 česká would be written as 730CZK or 730 Kč.

Coins

A koruna is sub-divided into 100 haléřů. The singular term for haléřů is haléř, the nominative plural form is written as haléře, and the generative plural form is written as haléřů. The generative form is used with values greater than or equal to five. Coins that are currently in circulation are denominations of 1 , 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 koruna. All of the coins feature the Czech lion on the obverse side, and the reverse side displays the value of the coin.

Banknotes

Banknotes are currently in circulation in denominations of 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000, 2000 and 5000 koruna. However, the 20 koruna banknote is no longer considered valid in the Czech Repbulic. The 2000 koruna banknote was recently modified to correct a few security flaws, however both the new and old versions are still considered legal tender.

The Czech Koruna is a relatively new currency, and it is not printed regularly, as inflation is already recognized as an economic problem in the Czech Republic.
